Message: Thanks to the marathon and RTN for providing a profile of the new course. I've looked at the map and the elevation profile for the new course, and I think it's going to be a good race. I'm excited about the changes.
What do other runners think of the new course?

Message: We drove the course yesterday (1/13/02). The changes add a few more hills but the increase in scenery through the neighborhoods makes it a good thing.
Anyone know if the course will stay this way?

Message: For the time being, this will be the CHM course. Obviously, with the amount of construction going on in Houston, nothing's set in stone.
I know that the city will do some type of major work to the Elysian viaduct at some point. This will force some type of changes to the course, possibly major.

Message: How about changing the date next? It is impossible for some of us to be peaking for the marathon at Christmas time. A February date would be much more accommodating to those who travel during the holidays. Thank you!

Message: Yeah, I'm impressed by anyone who runs well in a January marathon. With holidays running pretty much from Thanksgiving through the start of January, I don't know how people stay on their training schedule and stay away from all the fatty foods!

Message: The trick is to go for a run whenever you see the table getting set! It is tough to eat off the small plates, but what are the alternatives? If it takes 4 - 5 months to properly prepare for a marathon, you can either start earlier and go to Dallas in December, or have the holidays get in the way for anything earlier than May (pounds are pounds whenever they come). And May is certainly no time to run a marathon in Houston.

Message: I liked the new course, the people support through the Heights and Montrose and the narrower streets than San Felipe were excellent. One of the best parts was seeing the half marathon mark in West U. instead of the Westpark "hill" - I suddenly found I'd gone 1.5 miles further than I realized!
