Message: To whom it may concern:
I participated in the Uptown Park 4 miles race this past Sunday. I believe I ran under another person's race number. It all started Saturday, Jan 19, 2002 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The volunteer registrars had informed that they were out of the computer chips. All participants would have to wait for their computer chips. So, everyone was standing and waiting for their chips. Soon after new shipment came with the additional chips, I was handed a packet with a bib number 31056 . I ran with that number on Sunday. However, I did not stay for the awards ceremony. I found out Sunday's evening that the bib I wore was under another person's name, Mr. Bob W. Wilson. I felt as if I got cheated. I could have been 3rd for women in my age group (35-39 years old). I am heart broken because I did train very hard for this race and I got screwed. Can anything be done about this?

Message: Believe me, I can relate to your situation...
Try training hard the past six months for a marathon and putting it all on the line for Boston qualification this past Sunday in Houston, running your fastest marathon EVER, and then realizing Monday morning that you didn't even show up for the race as far as the Houston Marathon officials are concerned!
Please see the posting below titled "Houston Marathon Memories..." for my story. I still haven't heard a word from race officials in response to an email I submitted directly to them on Monday morning after realizing there was a major problem with my results - the fact that I don't have any!
I wish you luck first, in receiving a response from the race officials, and second, in getting your situation corrected.

Message: I just wanted to send a quick Thank you note to Steven Karpas, Managing Director of the Compaq Houston Marathon, for looking into this error. He was nice enough to e-mail me and try to correct this mistake. His effort is greatly appreciated.
