Message: there are two problems with this race:
(1) there are too many people trying to get into too narrow a space at the start, and (2) too many people near the front at the start who have no business being there (this is the reason i quit running the jingle bell run).
until the "organizers" get their act together, the fine arts run is just an accident waiting to happen.

Message: I was taking pictures of this race standing on the sidewalk when this mass of people started running at me on the sidewalk because there wasnt any room on the street. This race is much to big to be run on these streets. Why don't they run thru Hermann Park? Would make better sense!

Message:
I was one of the runners who had to run on the sidewalk to pass the others for the full 1st mile !!!.I was really upset. As Paul mentioned a lot of people should have started further in the back of the start line.
The organization should limit the number of participants or use 2 different course maps with a common finish.

Message: The old course used through 1999 seemed to work much better. Starting in front of the Children's Museum utilizing four lanes of Bissonet and Montrose, crowding was never an issue. The current course reduces to a narrower section of Bissonet after only a few blocks. I'm in favor of returning to the old course.
Also, since a 5K usually brings out alot of "non-racers", it might be a good thing to point out in the race packet some race etiquette. Common courtesy things like not running through people, not cutting directly in front of people after passing them, making sure that when you have to spit, look to make sure your not aiming it at the person next to you. All of these happened to me during mile 3 on Saturday, when there was ample space between runners.
Anyway, this is a great race and even better after race party!

Message: This is a great race. It is well-organized and includes a great t-shirt. However, a race this big should have 5 year age group awards. I don't want to sound like a glory hog but practically all races with fields bigger than a few hundred have 5 year age group awards. I am certain that I would have placed in my age group had this race had 5 year age group awards. Anyway, I am sure that there are others who feel this way as well and I hope you will take this into account. I am 20 years old and cant really be expected to beat out the likes of Daniel Shaw. Thanks.

Message: I agree with the 5 year age group award request - there are too many people to limit it to 10 year age groups. Also a new course should be put in place since the start has such a narrow path for a stampeed of folks. Also, I didn't like that the food ran out so quickly! I did an 8 minute cool down then quickly changed and when I got there all the food was gone!!!! That is a bad sign that they didn't prepare properly for the amount of people or people took stuff in 2's and 3's, basically breaking etiquette and just being selfish.
