Message: It is apparent that alot of things fall short of expectations in regards to the Houston Marathon experience. I think that with all marathons things do not allways receive the level of attention that runners now expect. There are a few things that keep coming to the front of the conversations and I hope they receive more attention next year.
1. I think that a marathon the size of Houston should go with a computer timing system that is more reliable and widely accepted. (Champion Chip) I mean I do not see Chicago, Boston, NYC, LA, Austin, and ect. using some NO NAME BRAND TIMING SYSTEM.
2. How about using a Photo company that worked in the past! Those clowns at marathonfoto have been messing up pictures for a long time... give a local a chance maybe??
3. The Food thing.....I know Steve Karpas has already steped up and explained the issues with this. And I am looking forward to the fix for next year.
In short nothing ever will be perfect with a marathon. And I think it is great for race directors that there are forums for runners to let there comments be heard. Lets all remember that these events are very easy to join in and run on and on.. But race directing is very time consuming and things can be missed.
Thanks for the Race Houston.
