Subject: Thanks, Houston Marathon IP: Logged
Message: I ran the Compaq Houston Marathon this year, and I had a great time. I loved the logistic convenience provided by the Convention Center and the near by hotels. I enjoyed the post race food and drinks. I will run this marathon again, and I will tell all my running friends about the good things Houston Marathons has to offer.
Hold steady on the 5 1/2 time limit. If one can't run the 12:35 per mile pace, he is not a runner. There is plenty of walk-a-thons for them to do. Tell all the whiners that your time limit is 1 hour 20 min longer than that Boston set for a 60 year old lady ( 4 hours 10 min).

Message: Who the hell is this guy (or gal) to label anyone who can't run a 5:30 marathon "not a real runner".

Message: so what does separate the "real runners" from the "people who cover the distance". if i walk the entire way in 7 hours, does that make me a "runner" ?? it used to be that "running a marathon" was something to be proud of. only a well trained, motivated person in good physical shape would do it. nowdays, there are people who are 50-100 lbs overweight that cover the distance in "half-a-week" and consider themselves to be "marathoners" ...

Message: I'm tired of all the houston fit types who complain about the time for this race. It is still a race and if you can't do it in the time limit run another one. You are not the "new Breed" of runner as you claim. simply whiners who want the rules bent for them.
