Subject: Elites @ Waco's Symphony 6K IP: Logged
Message: Thought I'd drop a line to encourage any elite runners who are interested in running Waco's Symphony on Sept. 1 (8 a.m.) to contact me for arrangements. The Symphony 6,000 (yes, it is a 6K, 3.7 miles, so you're assured a PR!)) offers prize money to the top three overall men and women ($300, $200, $100) and to the overall male and female masters runners ($200).
I'm the elite athlete coordinator for the race, as I've been the last couple of years. We've had good competition. Musa Gwanzura and Katie Courtwright have won the race the last two years, and the fields have had good depth with more than a dozen men running sub-5:00 pace for the distance. The course is pretty flat (it does a loop across the Brazos River from downtown Waco). It's a good fitness indicator leading into the fall racing season, and Waco is conveniently located between Austin and Dallas.
Elite athletes interested in running should contact me for entry fee waivers. The sooner the better. My phone number (8-5) is (254) 710-6439. Or you can go to http://www.wacosymphony.com/6kreg.htm and simply fax me your entry form. By elites, I mean men who run around 15:345 or faster for 5K, and women who run 17:30 or faster for 5k. There's more info, with results from the last couple years, at www.wacosymphony.com under "special events."
