Message: Let me just say that I am a little upset at the fact that they closed the race. Who closes a race, especially a week prior? Who turns down money to be profited or to be given to a beneficiary. Unbelievable!!!!!
Maybe next year you guys will do a little more pre-planning a not turn away racers. Ya know there are not that many tris here in Okla. and to deny athletes the chance to compete is unbelievable!!

Message: who closes a race early? many events!
the primary concern for any event must be the safety of the participants. many events must limit their field because their course can only handle a specific number of participants. adding more entrants would jeopardize the safety of all participants.
trust me, the $$$ given to the charity would drop dramatically if someone is killed or seriously injured at the race.

Message: Good points to both arguments, but you do have to agree that if safety was the main concern, and the course would only be able to hold "x" amount of participants, then shouldn't the race have advertised a field limit and not just closed the race??? P.S., I'm responding only to the posts above and I am not familiar w/ the race at all.

Message: All races that I'm familiar with have a field limit and close at that limit. I live in Texas and many of the races in TX & LA fill up early.

Message: Dear upset triathlete,
Races close early for the reasons list above, as well as a few others. Perhaps you should practice early planning and this wont happen to you in the future. You shouldnt blame the race organizers, you should blame yourself for not planning ahead.

Message: Dear Upset triathlete,
Sounds like a perfect opportunity for you to direct an event, and see what actually takes place in order for an event to be a success. Apparently you have no idea in what takes place. I can assure you that money is probably the last thing an event organizer is thinking about.

Message: Man,
You guys are awful hard on this person.
How bout some niceness and understanding. We all find ourselves able to do a race at the last minute. I agree with maybe the person should have preplanned a little more but man, take a chill pill! Rip a new one would ya
