Message: Directors who use magazine web sites to push their events, but don't even have the courtesy to advertise in that magazine are the epitome of gall.

Message: OH MY GOSH!!!
I know this person very well. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.
She is a triahtlete who saw the need for a race; for the good of the sport. She has worked very hard getting sponsors and promoting this race AND taking care of her two sons as a single mom and trying to keep her business running as a personal trainer. I guess you guys just see the dollar signs from the advertisng NOT the greatness of a new triathlon in OKC. You guys are just running at the mouth not knowing what the financial circumstances of the race. Do you have any idea what it takes to put on a race? I did not think so! You are not being fair! And it benefits The Ronald McDonald House, for kids duh! We always have to go to Dallas or other states to compete. We lost two tris this year in OKC and gained this great new one. Shame on your guys!!!
Man, get off it!!! Just enjoy life!!

Message: Absolutely! As a new race director she may not have even realized or thought about actual advertising in the magazine, let alone having the funds to do it. There are a ton of small races all over the region and many of those don't officially advertise. But I will tell you that alot of them have a copy of RTN in the packet and that has to result in more membership.

Message: Stop making excuses. I too know the race director and bottom line, she and/or the organization putting on the race has chosen NOT to advertise to increase the bottom line. She posted this same message at OKRUNNER.com and they removed her posting because the race was not advertised in their publication. How do you think publications like RTN and OK Runner are able to stay up and running? Certainly not through circulation but through advertising. Regardless of whether the race director was or was not the person who made the decision not to advertise, the race should not be afforded the benefits of an open form such as the RTN message board if they are not willing to financially support the publication through advertising.

Message: Nothing like a little dispute! So far both arguments seem to be valid, however do you think the person is trying to make a buck by not advertising? I understand the need for advertisements to keep a publication up and running but I think if this is a 1rst time offense maybe her motive needs to be considered.

Message: first, OKRUNNER may have to right to remove. But it is listed in the upcoming races on RTN website. Yes, we need to suport RTN/ITR with advertisement for them to keep up their excellent work. But the attitude some of yall have would be magazine only list the races that advertised with them. Is that right? Have you participate in races who DID NOT advertisement?. Like my mom says, don't let the kettle call the frying pan black. Plus, benefit the Ronald McDonald House. How awful!

Message: I think answering questions about an event is OK if someone else asks, but initiating a thread yourself to stir up interest is bad form. If you want to draw attention to your event thru a source, use common sense and pay for their "advertising". Maybe just a small ad in their magazine, but at least something ... just my $.02
