Runner Triathlete News [ return ] From Message Felix   8/15/2001 06:45:21 Subject: Quelle CHALLENGE Roth IP: Logged Message: Everybody who takes part in the triathlon at Roth, Germany, is a Challenger The "Triathlon-Mecca" Roth offers a Challenge Roth - No special neologism, no accronym, no brain-teaser - triathlon in Roth will present itself as from 2002 under its new name: "QUELLE Challenge Roth" - The International Triathlon Festival. The sport combining swimming, cycling and running is a challenge, especially on the long-distance. After all, the participants have to do 3,8 km in the Europa-Canal, two laps of 90 km in the county of Roth and a 42 km marathon race. Everybody who takes this challenge upon her- or himself in Roth, where racing and in particular finishing has always been something special, will be as from 2002 a Challenger, somebody who seeks the Challenge. The date of the first Challenge, too, has already been arranged; and also in this case Roth remains predictable: On Sunday, July 14th 2002, the second Sunday in the month of July as always, at 6.10 a.m. the race is off. In fact, the well-established courses, the usual start groups and the two laps of the bike course will be kept. Everything the World Triathlon Cooperation ( WTC ) wanted to do away with, will be preserved. After all, among other things the planned intervention in the concept which has been working for 14 years at the event at Roth and other reasons made Detlef K�hnel give back the title IRONMAN after having negotiated for one year. Anyone who competes in Roth won't be able to qualify for Hawaii; instead, the participants can count on much lower entry fees and an additional service package. Everbody who will enroll until the end of the year has to pay 180 Euros, members of groups or teams have to pay even lower entry fees. The entry fees for the triathlon in Roth will be up to 25% less, compared to an IRONMAN race, this means about 30% or 75Euros ( about 150 DM ) less. Instead of getting the participants in the right mood for Hawaii, they may expect a real Triathlon Festival at Roth. The motto will be: sport, entertainment, fun and information from Wednesday July 10th to Tuesday July 16th 2002. Receptions by the mayor for the guests and hosts in Roth and Hilpoltstein, parties, TV nights with the nicest pictures of the triathlon, a perfectly organised children and family triathlon are only a few examples. Of course, the QUELLE Challenge Roth will still be in the centre of attention at the Triathlon Festival of Roth, whose atmosphere along the course has become legendary. The involvement of the head of the county, Herbert Eckstein, himself, who will function as a speaker at a new point, will make the bike course even more attractive. Your Organisation Team P 1
