Subject: mtn bike vs road IP: Logged
Message: I am an adventure racer and a triathlete. Does anyone know the time equivalencies to road vs. mountain. You know, if I ride mountain how much time do I get for road and vise versa or am I just dreaming!

Message: I ride the roads and the trails. It's difficult to say that a mile on the trails is equal to a mile on the roads, it usually feels like the trail is worth double what the roads are worth from a mileage standpoint.
But, to me, a minute is a minute. 1.5 hours on the trails is about like 1.5 hours on the road. If you want, wear a heartrate monitor to see how the effort level is different. There are certainly more heartrate spikes on the trails than there are on the roads.
Is that what you were asking?

Message: Many mountain bikers make great road racers. There are some pro's that come from a mountain biking background. I think if you are a good athlete, you will be good at whatever you do.
