Is anyone doing the CapTexTri Memorial day? I was wondering is there any hills on the bike course? Is this event draft legal? I don't believe Austin is very windy... Sounds like a fun race and I'm looking forward to shopping at Austin Tri-Cyclists!

This has been the largest and most exciting race I have ever participated in!! Started out with a BANG.. literally, I woke up to a nice thunderstorm and wind. The race was delayed by one hour due to the weather.

Swim was great except I took a punch in the face in all the start chaos. Water was a little cold but the new Ironman Wetsuit from Austin Tricyclist worked great! Not pleased with the split.. 27min?

On to the bike, fun easy course with a lot of turns until the 3 lap with a flat front tire.. 3 min tube change and I was off again screaming down Congress at 32 mph! Incredible support for all the fans and volunteers along the route. The yellow lab made me smile each time I passed. I have to admit I was anxious to get off the bike and start running but I was really pleased with my Bike split!! 1:09

Pulled in to the transition and slapped on the shoes and I was off. Cliff Shots were handed out and I tried one for the first time (bad idea) the honey in the chocolate shot did not set well in my stomach! Got over it with in the first mile and three cups of water. It seemed fast as I passed a ton of people, couldn't keep from checking out the ages on the backs of the calves. 5K slip was slow 23 mins? I had to pick it up. Again the volunteers were fantastic, especially the kids underneath the bridge turnaround. Pull into the finishing shoot at 43 min... A little disappointing, but a PR at 2:25 overall.

Great prep race for Buffalo Springs Half IM.
Can't wait till next year!
