Message: Is there any interest out there in trying to arrange for a half-marathon sometime in the fall? It could easily be a month before the Houston Masters 25K and would be a perfect distance for training and building up for the hp Houston Marathon.

Message: Are you forgetting about the 20K? It's scheduled for Oct. 19.

Message: Why do a 20K when a Half-marathon is only 1km more? But there is a difference in participants' minds when they've run a half-marathon compared to a 20K race, knowing that once you've done the half marathon, a full marathon is not 'that' far away.

Message: The 20k is part of the fully integrated "Marathon Warmup Series" featuring races of 20k, 25k and 30k 3 weeks apart designed to help prepare runners for the Houston Marathon. For new marathoners, in combination they both help build runner capabilities and instill confidence that the full marathon distance is doable.

Message: Okay, now that we all know the difference between a 20K and a half-marathon, let's get back to the point: is there going to be a half-mara in Sugar Land this fall?

Message: If you run with Fort Bend Fit this fall, we will run half marathon distance in a Saturday morning training run. Why go to the trouble to put on a 1/2 marathon race when there is a 20K sponsored race in Houston at the same time.

Message: There is nothing really magical about the warmup series, especially after you have done them multiple times. I have substituted the Huntsville half, Huntsville Rocky raccoon 25k, Dallas Big D 30k around White rock lake for some of the warmup series, just for a change of pace and scenery. If we had a
fall half marathon I am sure a reasonable number of folks would show up to do it. Unless the course follows the 30k route. Most people are one time and done on it.

Message: I don't have any problems with the 20k but there is nothing magical about the 20k and the "fully intergrated warm-up series". If you want to have a half then have one, although it will be tough for you to compete against that race for runners I would suspect. Don't let the idea that Harra already has a "fully intergrated series" discourage you.
