Message: Not to sound like ONCEARUNNER......But do any 5k participants really think that Karpas & Co sit around thinking about ways to improve the 5k?? Last year the 4 miler was 1/4 mile too short and this year the 5k was 1/4 mile too long..
Running the 5k on Marathon morning is like getting dressed up, going to Mortons, and ordering a cheeseburger...

Message: Disagree Dave, if they charge me for a
cheese burger at Mortons they ought to at lest bring me a cheese burger. I know the 5k is an after thought but one that cost 25$, meaning they should at least be obligated to get the distance right!

Message: I also realize that the 5K is the step-child of the marathon events but they should either do it well or not do it all.
I would have loved to run the half or full but was recovering from an injury. I ran White Rock just last month so it wasn't like I did the 5K because I'm not a legit runner, or someone who can't handle longer distances. The 5K was my way (against my better judgement) to participate in Houston's biggest running day of the year.

Message: I know how you feel. I too wanted to support the event even though I was not able to complete a marathon right now. A 6 hour marathoner is given more credit than someone who "only runs the half" or "only runs the 5k", no matter how WELL they run.
