Message: Ran the New Orleans Mardri Gras Marathon. Would not recommend it. Especially to a first timer. Would not even recommend it to a second timer. Matter of fact would not recommend it to a veteran marathoner.
Spectator support almost non-existant. Other than the water stations, no support whatsoever. Sometimes there were split callers, at other times there was just a sign.
No media coverage at all.
I highly recommend that the organizers of this race come to Houston and learn something.
Would like to contact the organizers directly but don't know if it would make a difference.

Message: I ran the half marathon in New Orleans and was pleasantly surprised. I liked the course a lot and heard time splits at every mile and had plenty of water and 10K (energy drink). But again, I only did the half marathon.
I especially enjoyed the finish inside the superdome. That was really cool.
The food and beer after the race was great and so was the live band!
The only thing the organizer could do better next year is the awards ceremony. There was none! My friend came all the from Switzerland and won his age group, I just hope he'll get his award, especially since it was his first award won ever.
I'll be back next year and can recommend the half marathon to any runner:)
Exploring New Orleans after the race was a blast as well!!!

Message: I do recommend the half marathon. If I went back I would do the half.

Message: My mom, dad, husband and I all ran the Mardi Gras Half Marathon. I enjoyed it immensely. We were relieved NOT to have the huge crowds that Houston now has. I found it much easier to run. The lack of crowd support didn't bother me. I enjoyed the course very much. But I know crowd support would really help in a full marathon.
And where elese would BEER be available at the 11 mile water station?
