Message: Does anyone know what the "official" distance was? My guess would be 400 meters short. Would BCRR like to respond.

Message: I agree it was short. I was at 13:40 or so at 2 miles and finished in 19:10. I know I did not run 5:50 in the final 1.1 miles. My previous best 5K was 21:10 and I felt like I was on pace to better that and maybe finish under 21, which was my goal, but 19:10???? I was surprised.

Message: My suggestion is to take your time at the 2 mile mark and just go from there. I gotta believe it will impossible to tell the exact distance of the race. Isn't it enough we gave you a T-shirt, free ticket to the game, a camara bag, a ton of food afterwards, and an opportunity to run on the court. For only 20 bucks.
What did those people in the top 50 get anyway?

Message: All the stuff we got was great. I have no idea what the top 50 runners received. I would like to know. All I said was that the course seemed short. Just wondering what others thought.

Message: What a dissapointment that this race was so unorganized and measured wrong....AGAIN.
When you have some of Houston's finest runners out racing or using this run as a time trial it can be frustrating when the organizers get it wrong.
Label it next year as the Rockets Run "Up to a 5K".

Message: What I have learned is....and correct me if I am wrong, if the race doesnt say USAT certified then it might not be exactly as advertised.
I do agree it is frustrating when you think you are running for a time and then bam the race is over. You know what wouldn't be so bad is if they said hey it wasn't 5K it was 2.88 miles. Then we could at least do the math and go from there.
It is kind of wierd that the first two miles were "supposedly" marked off just fine. I gotta believe that as much as it takes to put together a race that measuring the course should not be a big problem.

Message: BCRR thank you for putting together this race. With that said, you should call it The Rockets Fun Run 2 Mile + Race. Two years in a row to screw up the distance is unacceptable. At least go back and measure what we ran and then post it so that we can calculate our times.

Message: Great race i got 2nd overall and i thought it was a great deal for what you get out of $20. The race distance was about 400 meters off. i clocked 15:05 and it should have been more like 16:15 or 16:20.
We all know BCRR can measure a course, something just went wrong with the layout, as i was dicussing with some of the members after the run. The first 2 mile markers seemed to be in the correct locations. 5:10, 5:17 were my splits for the first 2 miles. It was in the finish somewhere.

Message: Well, I hope the organizers have the courtesy to at least post the results this year on the run.
My recommendation is that in the future they advertise this "race" as a "family walk" and focus on a more casual and informal approach OR recruit the help of a good race director that can put on a well-organized running event.
