cold and rainy Saturday morning of Memorial Weekend. The rain
didn't dampen the spirit of the runners who braved the elements
to honor one of Oklahoma's greatest long-distance runners, Andy
Payne. The annual event honors Payne, a Cherokee Indian from
Claremore, Oklahoma, who in 1928 won the trans-continental
Bunion Run Derby from Los Angeles to New York City. The Bunion Run Marathon winners were Chris Crawford of Dallas,
TX., and Tina King of Oklahoma City. The Willie Nelson 10K
winners were Bobby Mirzaie of Oklahoma City and Becky Baggett of
Edmond, OK. The Allie Reynolds 5K run winners were Patrick
Morgan of Oklahoma City and Natalja Voellmecke of Oklahoma City.
