The 2001 age group rankings
for triathlon and duathlon have been released and are posted to
the USA
Triathlon web site. They will also be printed in the March/April
2002
issue of USA Triathlon Times.
USA Triathlon ranked 11,895 U.S. triathletes and duathletes in
2001, an
increase of 27.8 percent over 2000.
Beginning in mid-March of 2002, USA Triathlon and its membership
partner, Timberline Timing, will post ongoing rankings to let
members
know how they are doing throughout the season.
To be ranked, an athlete must be an annual member of USA
Triathlon and
compete in three USAT-sanctioned triathlons or three USAT-
sanctioned
duathlons. If an athlete competes in more than three sanctioned
events,
the best three results are chosen.
To find the rankings, just go to www.usatriathlon.org
and click on the "age group" button on
the left side of the home page. There is information on how the
rankings
are calculated and what to do if an athlete disagrees with his
or her
ranking.
