Ric Rosenkranz and Linda Neary won the elite races at the USA Triathlon Sprint National Championship on Saturday in Key Biscayne, Fla.

The race, which was part of the Huntington's Disease Triathlon, included a 0.5-mile swim, a 13-mile bike and a 3-mile run. Rosenkranz (Clermont, Fla.) finished in 1 minute, 59 seconds and Neary won in 1:07:52.

The age group winners were Michael Orton (Reston, Va.), 19, who finished in 1:02:55 and Heather Petroff (Broadview Heights, Ohio), 30, who won in 1:12:57.

Chris Wilson (Coral Gables, Fla.) and Rachael Wood (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) were the masters winners.

The USA Triathlon Junior Draft-Legal Race Series continued on Sunday in Oregon at the Mid-Summer Triathlon in Troutdale.

Christopher Stehula (Arroyo Grande, Calif.), 17, and Sarah Bickerstaff (Alva, Okla.), 19, were the overall winners of the sprint distance race. Stehula's time was 1:03:03 and Bickerstaff finished in 1:11:24.

Andrew Maxwell (Santa Barbara, Calif.), 17, led out of the swim and was out of the first transition with a 20-second lead heading onto the 20k bike course. A group of four riders broke the race open on the bike, averaging nearly 25mph and separating themselves from the rest of the field

On the 5k run, Stehula and Randall Lewis (Provo, Utah), 19, proved to be the class of the field, running 17:36 and 17:43 respectively and delighting the crowd with a sprint finish.

In the women's race, Katie Siegal (Germantown, Tenn.), 17, left the water nearly 90 seconds ahead of Bickerstaff and nearly five minutes ahead of third-place Destiny Brown (Corvallis, Ore.), 22. Siegal maintained 45 seconds of her lead after the bike and fought hard to hold on during the 5k run. But Bickerstaff closed as they re-entered the park and put on a decisive surge in the last mile for the victory.
