Ric Rosenkranz and Linda Neary won the elite races at the USA
Triathlon Sprint National Championship on Saturday in Key
Biscayne, Fla.The race, which was part of the Huntington's Disease Triathlon,
included a 0.5-mile swim, a 13-mile bike and a 3-mile run.
Rosenkranz (Clermont, Fla.) finished in 1 minute, 59 seconds and
Neary won in 1:07:52.
The age group winners were Michael Orton (Reston, Va.), 19, who
finished in 1:02:55 and Heather Petroff (Broadview Heights,
Ohio), 30, who won in 1:12:57.
Chris Wilson (Coral Gables, Fla.) and Rachael Wood (Deerfield
Beach, Fla.) were the masters winners.

The USA Triathlon Junior Draft-Legal Race Series continued on
Sunday in Oregon at the Mid-Summer Triathlon in Troutdale.
Christopher Stehula (Arroyo Grande, Calif.), 17, and Sarah
Bickerstaff (Alva, Okla.), 19, were the overall winners of the
sprint distance race. Stehula's time was 1:03:03 and Bickerstaff
finished in 1:11:24.
Andrew Maxwell (Santa Barbara, Calif.), 17, led out of the swim
and was out of the first transition with a 20-second lead
heading onto the 20k bike course. A group of four riders broke
the race open on the bike, averaging nearly 25mph and separating
themselves from the rest of the field
On the 5k run, Stehula and Randall Lewis (Provo, Utah), 19,
proved to be the class of the field, running 17:36 and 17:43
respectively and delighting the crowd with a sprint finish.
In the women's race, Katie Siegal (Germantown, Tenn.), 17, left
the water nearly 90 seconds ahead of Bickerstaff and nearly five
minutes ahead of third-place Destiny Brown (Corvallis, Ore.),
22. Siegal maintained 45 seconds of her lead after the bike and
fought hard to hold on during the 5k run. But Bickerstaff closed
as they re-entered the park and put on a decisive surge in the
last mile for the victory.

Chris Lieto (Danville, Calif.) and 2000 Olympic triathlete
Joanna Zeiger (Baltimore, Md.) won the Half Vineman race on
Sunday in Sonoma County, Calif. The event consisted of a 1.2-
mile swim, a 56-mile bike, and a 13.1-mile run and was a
qualifier for the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.
