 Subject: Stampede 17 or 18?

My registration for the Stampede said 17mi. bike. On Outloud's site they advertise it as 18. My computer was shot so I didn't clock it but a buddy said it was 18 on his. Any one know for sure?

My computer also said 18. Not being a very good biker, that last mile was pretty pscyhologically tough since I didn't think it was coming!

Well I never thought of it in that light, but I guess having the computer down may have been a blessing in desguise! I didn't know which mile was which! so 17, 18, didn't make a difference.

I feel your pain. For some reason my computer was displaying everything in kilometers. Trying to multiply everything on my computer by 6/10 surely cost me the overall victory!
Or maybe it was the lack of training...

I had 18 as well on my bike computer. Overall a good day, but I'm still feeling my "pain" - the fire ant bites, ouch!

I don't know about the bike - but those ants were hell on the feet!!!!Never saw so many in my life!!!! But, how about those duckies on the swim? (not the triathletes!)
Congrats to all who finished - especially the last lady who stuck it out!!! You go girl!

I want to give a little thanks to God here. I didn't pray for it but I really don't think I got one ant bite the whole day. I heard so many talking about them but I must have had a ant free zone around my rack. I hope that the directors of every race in the future will take into consideration the fact that for many they were a nuisance and for some even a hinderance. A little orthene a day or two before could have made a big differnce. It is definately something to be considered in grass transitions for the future. Itch on!
