Baylor-Tom Landry Kids Tri set for July 21
Event will benefit Our Children's House at Baylor

The third annual Baylor-Tom Landry Kids Triathlon is scheduled
for Saturday, July 21 beginning at 7:00 a.m. at the Baylor-Tom
Landry Fitness Center in Dallas. The triathlon will benefit Our
Children's House at Baylor, a licensed children's hospital that
provides comprehensive inpatient care and therapeutic services
for children in a family-centered environment, which emphasizes
education and training for family members.The event is open to boys and girls, ages 7-10 and 11-14. The
swim course includes an indoor 100 meter swim for ages 7-10 and
200 meter swim for 11-14. The bike course includes a three-mile
route for ages 7-10 and five miles for 11-14, while the run
course is enclosed in Landry Park and includes a one-mile run
for the 7-10 age gropu and 11/2 mile run for 11-14. Entry fee is $20 per child and $35 per team relay if received by
July 7, and $30 per child and $45 for team relays if received
July 8-20. Since this event is a USA Triathlon (USAT)
sanctioned event, USAT membership is mandatory for the race.
The annual fee for a youth USAT members is $15 and a one day fee
is $2.75. USAT memberships are available when packets are
picked up July 20 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Baylor-Tom
Landry Fitness Center. "This program encourages youth participation in a multi-sport
event and supports Our Children's House at Baylor. The event
began in 1998 and each year raises money that will benefit
children who cannot exercise or participate in activities
because of various health issues," said Barbee Eberhart,
director of aquatics.
