Lindley Tops Lindquist at ITU Devonport Triathlon

Siri Lindley, ranked No. 1 in the world, got her season off to
a
strong start with a victory at the International Triathlon Union
(ITU) Devonport International Triathlon on Sunday in
Australia. Lindley (Boulder, Colo.) caught U.S. teammate Barb
Lindquist
(Victor, Idaho) on the run leg of the Olympic distance race
(1.5K swim, 40K bike, 10K run) to win the ITU points race in
2
hours, 2 minutes and 21 seconds. Lindquist finished
second in
2:02:50 and Australia's Emma Carney was third (2:04:02). American Laura Reback (North Palm Beach, Fla.) placed
eighth. Lindquist, who leads the Australian Accenture race series
points
race after winning three of the first five races, took a 1:20
lead out of the swim and held a 45 second lead off the bike.
Lindquist is ranked third in the world and second in the
United
States. Lindley, considered one of the sport's top women
runners, is ranked No. 1 in the world. Martin Krnavek of the Czech Republic won the men's race in
1:50:01.
