David T. Simpson, the Vice President of St. Mary's University, has been the latest Lone Star state bicyclist to be killed in a traffic mishap. Simpson, 53, was struck by a Chevrolet pickup driven by Bruce Haby of Medina County as Simpson was riding northbound on FM 471 near San Antonio on Oct. 22. An investigation into the mishap is ongoing.

The October 2003 issue of RTN contained an article about two members of the Brazosport Bicycle Club who were killed during a group ride. James Thomerson, 49, and Brian Delaney, 47, died after being struck by a truck that slammed into the pace line in which they were riding.
