Subject: New 10-Miler? IP: Logged
Message: I heard that there is a new 10-miler in the works to replace the canceled Brazosport 10M. Anyone know anything about it? I think it is being staged in the Clear Lake area...

Message: Plans are underway for a 10 mile run to replace the Brazosport Run for the Arts, but the details haven't been worked out yet. We have spoken with the event director for the proposed race and will have complete details on the event if and when they happen.

Message: Final approval for the 10 miler will take place tonight at the HARRA meeting. The 10 miler if approved will be the first race in the HARRA fall series. More details should be coming out from Jerry Smith this week as well at www.ontheruntx.com

Message: I'm ecstatic about about the news. It should be a great race. I just hope they have a better choice of ice cream at the post race feed than they did at the last race in the Clear Lake area.

Message: This is the biggest complaint you can come up with: the selection of ice cream at a race? If that was the only thing I concerned myself with, then every race would be a 10. No wonder volunteers quit. Put on a fantastic race and someone complains about the ice cream!

Message: As long as there is Diet Coke at the post race party, it will be a 10!!!

Message: I'll weigh in from way up North. I can only hope that the organizing committee for the Space City 10 Miler gets the support of the running community that the Run For The Arts was blessed with during my tenure as race director. A shame the RFTA went by the wayside. Always a dedicated group concerned with treating every runner in a world class fashion. Its demise occurred due to the beneficiary (Center for The Arts & Sciences) no longer feeling it was a worthwhile project. Kind of crapped on all the volunteers that made the event one of the top races in the country. Best of luck to Space City!

Message: OK, let me see if I have this correct, fewer rainbow popsicles at the 10 miler and Diet Coke. Looking at the amount of left over popsicles, I would have to agree that they were not a big hit. Maybe ice cream sandwiches next year, how does that sound? Since I have a friend that works for Coke, I think we will have Diet Coke again.
On a serious note, this will be a well run race and you will have as much fun as one can have running a ten mile race. The course is flat and fast and will be chip-timed. There is information on the run at www.ontheruntx.com . We are putting together sponsors now and there will be more information forth coming but I personally hope this race will be around for a long time to come.
Stay tuned as details arise we will post on this board.
