Message: From the RRCA website.
The RRCA awards championships at the State, Regional, and National Level to help the host club secure high-quality athletes and attract added sponsor, civic, and media support. For the
average runner this means increased excitement and additional benefits, and for the elite runner a chance to gain wider recognition. A championship designation communicates to athletes and
others that the race organizers have agreed to meet certain required standards and utilize approved guidelines in the conduct of the event. The RRCA expects that this, in turn, will lead to a better event for everyone involved.
In other words, just a little extra help to make sure the race is a good one and maybe in the future bring in bigger named runners to add excitement.

Message: As the RRCA South Texas Representative it was a pleasure to award the Space City 10 miler the designation of the RRCA Texas State 10 Mile Championship Race. Our expectation is that upon conclusion of this exciting new race filling a gap in the Houston running calendar it will receive plenty of consideration as the RRCA South Region 10 mile Championship Race for 2004.
For more information on the Road Runners Club of America and its championship race program see www.rrca.org.
