Message: Last time I checked, you can run for free in many places at many times.
If you want to participate in a race, pay up and shut up. Im so tired of this socialist bulshit some runners like to pull off. I wish no RD would even honor comments like this by replying to them.

Message: If you look over at the "New 10-Miler?" dicussion board that was discussed about RRCA.
I agree with some of the other posts, why are we not more concerned about running a 10M PR or beating that age group guy that we never can seem to catch. No we have to bash the food, the RD or whomever else because we have not trained for a race.

Message: TXrunner, what was said on the other board was that A) it would mean regional runners came in for the race. (something that didn't happen) and B) that local and slower runners would see more benifits as well. I am simply aasking what those benifits were. Trying to learn more about RRCA the discussion at the other site never says what they are, was just curious.

Message: Wow sman pretty harsh, "your foot any day anytime". Man that kept me awake a whole extra nanno-second worried about that. How sad it must be for you to have only two threats in your arsenal (Running and fighting) and not be able to back either one up. But we digress, while we could go backwards and fowards from now til... well actually I guess we couldn't as you can only come up with two weak threats. In order to end the discussion on my part let me just make this statement to Jay. If the cost of putting on a run is that expensive, and charity is the name of the game, then I challange you to offer your timing services to area races for free for the next year.

Message: Tgrr,
I see that my request to get some legitimate feedback on a race that I hope could turn out to be a good replacement for 10 for TX or SOME day bring big name runners to the Houston area is falling on deaf ears. I asked for comments and there were some good comments back and then we got the taqueria slam. In the big picture I have no problem with the comments from luvtorun he or she is entitled to say whatever they want. For my friends that know me, I do have a pretty good sense of humor. As for chilling out a little no problem. The thing that I have learned from this line of conversation is that the boards don’t seem to be a good place to have productive dialog.
What I did say in my post about the RRCA sponsorship was the following:
In other words, just a little extra help to make sure the race is a good one and maybe in the future bring in bigger named runners to add excitement.
I said in the future, not the first race and maybe not even by the 5th annual but maybe some day we will have the excitement of getting to toe the line with some of the elite runners in the US.
As for offering up timing for free, I time at least 8 or 10 races a year; do you know what I get paid for that? Nothing!!! So I already do timing for free already. Now our running club does offer race day management for a good majority of the races in Clear Lake and I also have helped in other races around Houston “for free”. So are you asking that our club does race management for free?? Oh yes and the money our club gets for doing the runs, a good chunk of that goes towards scholarships for high school kids who love to run and want to continue furthering their education.

Message: Thats great but you do more than ten races a year and not all of them are free. Yes that is what I am asking after all its for chairity right.
As far as productive dialog, how productive is it to take a complaint from someone and begin by ranting about how hard it is to put on the race and how selfish they are. Is that they key to productive dialog? You began the agressiveness and now want to lay the blame everywhere but where it belongs, at your own feet.
