Subject: RE: USAT SMW Rankings IP: Logged
Message: Sebastion, As I stated in my original post "This is not a personal issue, I think well of you, but think that fair is fair and the rules apply to us all."
I am unsure as to how I was offensive to you, I clearly stated that I had no personal issue with you. I had no prior knowledge that you had contacted Fred regarding this(and why should I know), but I know that if I was erroneously listed as the winner, and that fact screwed up everyone elses points that finished behind you(at least in the results), that I would not have stopped until it was corrected. Do I expect you to follow the same thought pattern, no. I just found it odd that you heap praise upon a system that rewarded you with a race win and a ranking that is not correct. I stand to gain nothing from this correction, and stated that I merely used a BS name and email to stop Bs messages, however I gave enough clues that you and Olen could figure it out, had I been hiding my identity from you I would not have given it away. I have always liked you and will continue to, even if you take offense to my pointing out this oversight in you results. Chris

Message: Chris;
Im not personaly offended, I just wish you would have gone about it a different way.
I also think it would be unfair to blame the people compiling the rankings for this problem, they truly just went by the rules. As I stated before, the RD and USAT officials signing off on clearely inaccurate results are to blame.

Message: This is the first I've heard of the problem you guys are talking about. The mistake with the results should have been corrected at the race. Secondily, the USAT officials have nothting to do with how the results are calculated, they are there only to enforce the rules. A protest could have been made after the race about the person cutting the course short.

Message: Bronda, I agree, this should have been corrected at the race.....I asked Doug Tramaine(race director)if the results had been corrected, as he was headed towards the stage to present the awards, and he said that they had. I did not stay for the entire awards, as Doug said over the PA system that he di not have cash or checks for the elite payout and would mail them. Therefore I assumed that he was honest in his remark, but did not find out until the results were online that Sebastion was listed as the overall age group winner.
I assume that your post was directed at Sebastion, rather than me, as at no time have I made mention of USAT officials. Best regards.....

Message: So what now? Is it going to be fixed or what? In a perfect system, we wouldn't need anyone to monitor the process. But it's not perfect and someone needs to fix this.

Message: Did either of these guys race in an elite wave? Their rankings don't count at all if they race in the elite wave. Isn't that screwed up?????

Message: There are different schools of thought regarding the non-scoring for elite waves. I race it with that understanding, and enjoy the freedom to switch back to an age group wave when I need to, in order to score points and keep my ranking where I want it, knowing that when I race in that wave, I am typically racing for money, not points or hardware. USAT feels that since the select or elite wave allows those in it to experience a cleaner race course, with less traffic and congestion, and therefore the opportunity to race unimpeded. I feel that this is similar to the first wave(be it clydesdales, or male/female age groups) and the lack of congestion they experience. We do not discount the first wave for this benefit. Just one of those things.......train hard, race harder

Message: bronda:
1.- Im amazed that fred wouldn't forward you any correspondance pertaining rankings (not saying he did or didn't, just that he should be just as good as a contact point as anyone)
2.- Please read the letter I wrote to Fred, this explains why it wasn't fixed at the race.
3.- You're right, I probably shouldn't attribute any responsibility to the USAT officials. They wouldn't have known about the problems because they were not monitoring the course.
