Subject: RE: Where was the clock? IP: Logged
Message: Jay,
We've had two similar incidents occur with our clock and both times it was at events with near freezing temperatures. The first time our clock refused to run at all because it was 25 degrees. I think the battery was already on it's way out and the sub-freezing weather finished it off. Fortunately, one of the event sponsors had a generator nearby so we were able to run the clock off of 110-volts. None of the race participants were aware that there was a problem. The second battery failure occured in the late fall and we had no electrical power available to replace the battery. We announced the problem before the race began and informed the group of mostly beginning runners that, although there would be no race clock, the race would go on as planned and everyone would receive a finish time. Everyone was okay with that because they knew that they would have their race time in a day or two. We don't use the clock for official times anyway and we posted the complete results on the RTN website. I would suggest replacing your clock battery if you haven't done so already. Both of the incidents were very frustrating because we had verified that the clock worked the night before the race. On race day we looked like we didn't know what we were doing (even though we did). Good Luck.

Message: Larry,
Thanks for the advice. That afternoon I charged the battery again and then let it run for an hour with no problem. The battery is about 3 or 4 years old so maybe it is time for a replacement.

Message: Question for "luvtorun"
Have you been a member of a race committee? Or even a race volunteer?
If the answer is no, please be advised that we could use your help at some of the spring races.
Thanks

Message: Having a clock at a race....If that is what it really is. Should be one of those items that have to show up along with a course.
But was that really more than a fun run?
If the answer is yes then maybe the problem will get corrected for the next version.
Truth is things go wrong on race day. Usually race directors have the resources to work through problems. There are times when those poor soles just have a bad go and have to reload for the next one.
Better off just racing and worry more about your own times than to care so much about what did not happen.

Message: I know who luvtorun is. Is anyone else interested in knowing who he is?? I can even provide a link to his photo.
From what I can tell luvtorun's life revolves around knocking every race he does. Rather than trying to make things better.

Message: i know who luvtorun is also. and he is the biggest @@@@@@hole in the running community. he says he can not volunteer at races, because he has a life, well he certainly has time to bash every race in the area. maybe if he truly had a life he would spend time with his own life rather than trying to find fault with everyone else.
think about it BRUCE!!!!!!!aka luvtorun
why don't you find another sport to bash and leave those of us who committ ourselves to the running community by giving back ALONE>

Message: Eracer,
With luvtorun calling out Mike Daniel(A.K.A. Hoot)in the post above, just because he was brave enough to give his e-mail shows how arrogant and stupid luvtorun is. Anyone can put a mouse over the e-mail logo and with a few rocks in their head get the name correct. What is so hard looking at mikedaniel1334@.... then posting by name.
No, I didn’t post my e-mail either and you can bash me as well but there has to be some accountability when someone year in and out keeps bashing every race they do. Luvtorun if you are that put off with doing races please stop running them. Why waste your money?
